World Congress of Sexual Health (WAS) Symposium 2023

The Global Partnership Forum on CSE held three events at the 26th Congress of the World Association of Sexual Health, and several partners came together to present work across varying themes.

The sessions were:

  • A symposium session in collaboration with WHO and UNFPA on the backlash to CSE. The session had two parts, the first launched and showcases support statements on CSE that several professional associations made, including, WAS, FIGO, FIGIJ, and IAAH. The second part was a sharing of country examples where CSE-related backlash and their response and strategies in building partnerships.
  • A panel discussion on research on CSE where the Global Partnership Forum presented and revealed the results of the GPF 2023 survey on CSE research and evaluations, conducted by the Research Working Group of the Global Partnership Forum on CSE. The discussion that followed was engaging and there were several asks including guidance or lesson plans on CSE for teachers, standards for teaching CSE including teaching and learning materials, a reiteration of the importance of qualitative, theory-based research on CSE, and for broader outcomes of CSE to be examined.
  • A keynote speech, delivered by GPF secretariat, about the communications approach on CSE that is being used by the GPF. A strategy that acknowledges and embraces the diversity of perspectives of the many different members of the GPF and builds solidarity.
